My ultimate goal is to be able to fire up the creative juices and be able to lay down some tracks and song ideas, have some fun and not have it be nightmare of technical frustration and an endless money pit. There's probably something in this Ableton but it's probably not that great. It would be nice to have some drum tracks to help with the creative process. Maybe what I should do is start with a decent beginner level audio interface like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which comes with Ableton Live Lite 8 and see if I can do something with just that.

So I guess that that isn't enough of a reason to get stuck on the idea of Pro Tools and nothing else.īut Pro Tools 12 isn't out of my reach since I could get my son who is in university right now to buy it for basically half price. We might noodle around a bit and record some original tunes but just for fun. The main reason that I was looking into Pro Tools is that a buddy of mine is familiar with that program. Too Late to save you now! Go to the duc and make your one phone call to support. I wouldn't want to be starting out on it now with my own money.

I'm not sure the version feature set has what you really need, but that is your call. Go to "the Duc" (the user's site) and dig hard about EVERYTHING. You'll need to check your Computer specs. It's the same program as the "Vanilla" version. Then, install the 3 applications needed with the InstallShield Wizard by clicking the Install button. It won't be disabled after one year, but unless you fork over $$$ (after one year of the purchase) to re-up, you won't be able to update.
You'll need more stuff than meets the eye. Since you have no experience, fishing through the specs,policies,purchasing and installing can bring you to your knees. I was busy posting to your original thread and saying :
